The term "werewolf" refers to a human being who can turn into a wolf. According to legends and mythologies, he got this transformation ability through a pact with the devil. Since the Middle Ages, there are already records about werewolves, which say that a person who transforms into the shape of the werewolf becomes a predator and either kills or also eats people.
Although we can see from movies that the full moon is supposed to play a big role in the transformation of a human into a werewolf, this seems to be more an invention of the movie industry, because there are no traditions about this.
If a werewolf appears in the dream image of the dreamer, one is surely struck with fear. The teeth of this dark figure alone are already frightening, and furthermore it has immense powers, to which one feels defenseless. For the dream analysis it plays an important role how the personal relation of the dreamer to the werewolf is.
The dream symbol of the werewolf represents the clash of civilized life forms and instinct-guided behavior. Such a frightening figure usually represents a warning symbol that has to do with deception, betrayal and aggressiveness. Probably, there is a person in the near vicinity of the dreamer who defies moral laws. The dreamer is taken by surprise and sees the danger only when it is too late and the damage is already done. He is asked to think about whether his own actions seem reckless and aggressive to others.
Psychologically, the werewolf in the dream scene signals that the dreamer has problems regarding personality disorders in everyday life. There is a possibility that he is internally torn and thus has difficulties in adapting to life situations on the outside. This chaotic inner life, which has little connection with balance, is reflected in the dream image of the werewolf. The monster, which primarily follows its instincts, also symbolically stands for wildness, unbridledness and for the conflict of becoming master of one's own sexual urges. Hidden fears are also proclaimed by this dream image of the werewolf. The longer one puts off worries and sorrows, the more the burden adds up and a resolution is in prospect. Special inhibitions of the dreamer are also represented by it. The suppression of all the listed aspects can lead to threatening effects. By confronting their own fears, the dreamer may find out that the werewolf is only a symbol and with this realization, the figure loses its power of influence and terror. Talking to this dream figure could be supportive in resolving one's fears successfully.
In spiritual dream interpretation, the image of the werewolf in a dream symbolizes the fear of death and all circumstances accompanying death. Any kind of fear disturbs the inner balance. If this predator disappears in the dream, it points to the beginning of healing on the soul-spiritual level.
