The idea of undergoing an operation or that a surgeon is cutting around on the body with a scalpel usually does not trigger a pleasant feeling, rather fruit and fear. We are asked to trustfully hand over our body into the hands of capable doctors and hope that we will wake up from the anesthesia well looked after and get healthy again. There are also operations without general anesthesia only with local anesthesia at certain body parts, where e.g. only a birthmark removal is pending. In this case, the level of risk is still within limits. Whether operations are often decided too hastily and make sense is another matter, and everyone is responsible for their own decisions.
The term "operation" is not only used in the medical field, but also for a planned project, executions or work steps can be called an operation. Even in an arithmetic problem, there are different steps that are called operations.
What does dream analysis think about this dream symbol and its relation to the dreamer?
In a dream in which you had to undergo surgery, a sinking feeling of discomfort may understandably still be present after you wake up. Well, who likes to go under the knife? However, general dream interpretation does not see this dream symbol as an indication that such a surgical procedure will occur.
The image of surgery at the dream level reflects the dreamer's fears of change. In the truest sense of the word, surgery is said to be an "incisive experience," which probably alludes to impressive experiences the dreamer has had in reality. Fears are energies, which in many respects, put a spoke in the wheel. Fears of an illness, for example, can be expressed by this dream symbol. If a disease is known, the operation in the dream indicates a positive sign of healing.
Mostly details in the dream, e.g. at which organs was worked on, can give information about the everyday life of the dreamer. If an operation is performed around the heart, it may indicate a conflict that produces strong remorse. If an operation is performed on the gall bladder, it signals that the person is experiencing bitterness over a particular issue.
If the surgeon on duty operates on one's legs, this can illustrate that one has gone astray. One's own attitudes toward life should be examined. If one dreams of a stomach operation, a burdening problem from the everyday life could lie to the concerning dreamer, straight heavily in the stomach.
If the operating doctor should cut a bone with a chisel during surgery, this symbolizes old patterns of thinking and behavior that are outdated and call for expansion or renewal.
If one experiences an operation in the dream this stands according to psychological dream interpretation in connection with the soul level of the dreamer. Thus the dreamer is pointed to the essential indispensability of change . To allow changes belong in life to maintain the psychological balance, any resistance to it has a negative effect on oneself. The inner knowledge about it is already activated, but a fearful attitude still blocks the way to take the first steps. This reversal can have a formative effect on the dreamer's life, bringing uncertainty and fear.
To affirm a decision for an operation is a tricky matter that should not be rushed. Hereby it is reflected to the dreamer that his decisions in real life, with regard to his current phase of life, should be well considered. The general operation goal is to restore healing or balance in the body or to take the path from illness to health. To agree to this holistically, one may have to jump over one's own shadow with COURAGE and thus make way for change.
On the spiritual dream level, the dream symbol of surgery represents the concept of healing. Not only physical healing, which is what the word denotes from a medical point of view, but on a holistic level. Every healing is connected with different phases and processes. Every transformation is usually also connected with pain. The detachment of the old to make room for the new, an expansion from the known into the field of the unknown.
The more consciously the dreamer deals with the respective phases, the more easily he can go through with it and engage in the necessary transformations, which can eventually lead to healing.
