But what does the symbol of the octopus promise in the dream plot? What interpretations does dream research give it?
Generally, the dream image of the octopus appears in sleep when it is about making an important decision in real life. The dreamer has squirmed a bit before it and wanted to stall for time to avoid a confrontation with disagreements. But now the time has come to face it. Whether this venture will succeed depends on whether the dreamer consciously makes his decision and stands by it.
In connection with the symbol of the octopus there are different situations in the dream, which are interpreted differently:
If the dreamer's body is sucked in by the octopus, this symbolizes that in real life the person concerned allows himself to be overcome by negative feelings. He is easily intimidated and influenced by people or situations in the outside world that confront him with negative things. He should practice robustness and sink more into his inner center in order to better withstand the external storm and thus also get a clearer view of the situation at hand.
If you see the octopus in bright colors that leave a toxic impression, this serves as a warning symbol not to let unconscious feelings pull you down. An emerging mental disharmony will be unavoidable in that case.
If the octopus is seen spilling its ink into the sea, this indicates, according to the general interpretation, that people around it are concealing truths.
According to classical psychology, the octopus in the dream symbolizes detachment. This symbol represents the less valued qualities of the mother, who wants to control and cannot let go. The octopus expresses to the subject that he unconsciously desires nothing more than freedom and independence.
Thus, psychologically analyzed, the dream of the octopus reflects that the dreamer himself strives for the desire of complete control. He likes to influence his environment in an attempt to control everything and every detail should work according to his concepts. According to the motto, "Everything dances to my tune!"
Seen from a transcendent point of view, this sea creature serves as an invitation to acquire spiritual perspectives through more effort, leading to greater clarity of vision.
