In Greek mythology, nymphs are described as female deities who embodied benevolent spiritual beings and stood as symbols of the forces of nature. Nymphs were often pictorially depicted as lovely girls, often wearing only light clothing. In their appearance they also remind of fairies and mermaids and are sometimes associated with them.
Originally, the term "nymphomania" also comes from the word "nymph". One understands by it exaggerated, sexual desires, which are lived out by a woman.
Is the dream interpretation also about sexual preferences of the person concerned or does the nymph stand for something completely different ?
For general dream interpretation, the "nymph" symbolizes a naive, innocent, pure and feminine form of energy. When a nymph visits us in a dream, it represents feminine intuition for the person in question. Also, when a man dreams of a nymph, the dream is asking him to deal with the inner feminine aspects.
Moreover, this dream symbol of the nymph promises a hot love affair in the near future. Quite likely, the dreamer will get the opportunity to fall head over heels in love, where the subject can enjoy passion and sensuality to the fullest.
Water is the element of this nature being and if one meets her in the dream at the sea, passionate longings of the sleeping person could soon be experienced in reality. If a woman dreams of a nymph bathing, she soon reaps recognition and honor in real life, which she receives, but in a socially, not valued field. If a dancing nymph is seen in a dream, it warns the dreamer that a conflict with the relationship partner may be brewing. If one surrounds himself with many nymphs in his sleep, this illustrates that he cannot decide between two people in love matters, sits between two chairs, figuratively speaking. His heart beats for two people between whom he is torn.
If a nymph is on the run in one's dream, this announces a sad message or a painful love experience may also be connected with it. Possibly, there is a possibility that the dreamer carries feelings of romantic love in his heart, but this is not reciprocated by the person in question. The nymph in the dream can also bring clarity that a long-standing, solid relationship, can no longer be maintained in the previous form.
Psychologically interpreted, the symbol of the nymph in dreams serves as a sign of closeness to nature . From old traditions the nymph clarifies the symbol of the life force of the dreamer. For dream interpretation psychology there are similarities between the figure of a princess and the nymph. Both are thought to have such qualities as grace and innocence, as well as good-heartedness and romantic disposition. The dream image also advises the dreamer to devote himself to the conscious observation of his own feelings and thoughts, as well as his own behavior.
Psychologically, the nymph also symbolizes fertility and sexuality, but sexual urges are not included in this interpretation.
Spiritually, the nymph in dreams symbolizes the origin of femininity.
