In earlier times, an igloo traditionally served as the dwelling place of the so-called Eskimos or Inuit, the inhabitants of Greenland and the Arctic. Nowadays, they live in wooden huts or settlement houses, but an igloo is still used as a shelter during overnight stays on hunting trips.
Building an igloo requires one's own professionalism to make it burglar-proof and stable. Either blocks are forged from snow and these are piled on top of each other, or one digs deep into a large pile of snow to form an igloo out of it. For our one, such a snow house is something very unusual and thus such ice houses are gladly offered as a tourist attraction on the market for overnight stays. Although such an igloo is made of frozen water and cold conditions are below 0, it is amazing to learn that it can still provide relatively good warmth to people, especially when the outside temperature is around forty degrees. These particular seemingly contrary properties of the igloo are also expressed in dream interpretation.
A house made of snow seems to be a rather unfriendly accommodation option and almost an imposition, as the very idea of living in an igloo gives one chills. It is made of frozen snow walls and is dark with no light coming in.
This dream image may indicate that a sensitive and warm-hearted being is hidden behind the facade of a rejecting and cold shell. On the other hand, it can also mean that the dreamer suffers from emotional coldness and does not have much empathy to show. If in the dream of the dreamer a relative member of the family appears, the dream image of the snow house can stand for the fact that the person concerned regards this relative as heartless.
The igloo in the dream can also symbolize the house or apartment of the person dreaming. Most likely, he does not really go to much trouble to fill his own dwelling with warming atmosphere and is rather indifferent to coziness. The warmth that is inside him is not reflected through the outside of his private environment. It can also illustrate a suppression of his character traits, which is outwardly perceived as cold or rejecting.
The igloo thus also forms a protective space that is supposed to ward off "hostility" from the world. As a symbol, it could stand for femininity and be interpreted as a MOTHER'S SHELTER. Perhaps the dreamer longs for maternal protection or is also ready to render his service as a protector to those in need, which is specifically illustrated in a dream where he himself builds a snow house. If the igloo is destroyed in the dream by any circumstances, the dreamer feels UNSafe or defenseless in waking life.
A frosty snow house in a dream can represent relationship aspects. This coldness expressed by this dream symbol can indicate frozen sexual passion or a conflict in partnership. On the other hand, an igloo in a dream may also suggest that the dreamer in question is seeking shelter in a love relationship, as the outside world seems cold and unforgiving to him. A dreamed igloo could also symbolize that an apparently cooled down partnership is still kept alive by a warm core inside.
When a woman dreams of an igloo, this can indicate as a dream symbol that she is dealing with her perhaps deeply frozen emotionality and its cause, which further indicates the preparation of welcoming her femininity. After this conscious opening, she can finally rest and relax. For men, the igloo can be interpreted as either not being granted personal space, lacking it, or defending it to his relationship partner.
On the one hand, spiritually speaking, the igloo in a dream symbolizes the primal principle of the feminine , and on the other hand, it proclaims the polarized opposition of warmth and cold, and also the dichotomy of the negative and the positive, the dark and the light, etc. Usually an igloo is built in spirals and thus stands for a spiral spiritual development.
