The term guru refers to a figure who, as a role model and spiritual guide, helps people gain knowledge with his foresight. The word comes from Sanskrit and means "he who dispels darkness". In our imagination, the word GURU immediately conjures up an image of a long-haired, white-bearded man with wide white robes, who lives in a cave on the peaks of the Himalayas. Such beings have a great responsibility and are always trying to do everything to help humanity on the path of the light of self-knowledge. Finding and staying with a master requires an often arduous path of introspection and purification, paved by surrender of the ego and clear discernment of true and false. This means directing the focus solely to the luminous truth of our being. Enlightenment is called the result of all effort, the self-knowledge of our true being. It is said in India, "Only when the disciple is ready does the master appear."
The general level of dream interpretation interprets the dream image "guru" first as a symbol of wisdom, coming from our inner intuition . If the dreamer finds the key to the entrance of this wisdom in the dream itself, he can consciously implement this in real life.
In dreams, the guru also stands for the guidance of the unconscious. The dream image wants to convey that it is time to devote oneself to self-knowledge for a clear and deep look. Inspiration through intuition lead to new knowledge, which through the dream should be shown to the subject and encourage to use. To attain complete consciousness, exuding the perfume of inner peace, harmony and bliss is the final result of all effort.
If the guru appears in the dream with instructions and teachings to the dreamer in the form of the disciple, this stands as a beneficial task in the waking world of the person concerned. The guru points out the disciple's misbehavior or gives him wise advice on how to deal with certain life situations. The dreamer was somewhat lazy and negligent in his development. This is ironed out by the guru and put into perspective. Thus, problems that have been attached to the dream will dissolve by themselves with ease.
Also one's own self appeasement, haughtiness, vanity and boasting, which are popular ego traits, can be consciously brought to the attention of the dreamer in a dream by a occurring teacher or warned against.
Psychologically, it looks a little different. The dream image of the guru, can symbolize to the dreamer the longing for a father or authority figure in a life. If the guru appears in the dream as a person known in the waking world, this subject is probably related to the dream image. Either the dreamer has the desire to be fathered by this person, or he even sees this person as his personal master and sage, whom he trusts blindly and turns to first in all matters.
If the dreamer is a seeker of knowledge in real life, profound knowledge may also be imparted to him by a guru in this dream. The figure of a guru in a dream serves primarily as a PROJECTION SURFACE of the UNCONSCIOUS, psychologically speaking.
If there is a deep longing of the person in question in the real world for guidance, the form of the guru may creep into the dream. The guru in such a dream then represents inspiration. This form of wisdom in the dream shows the sleeper a direct path to the implementation and realization of their own inner obstacles. If the dreamer, in the form of a disciple, surrenders completely to the instructions of the master, his devotion will lead him to the light in real life.
Spiritual dream interpretation clearly suggests that a guru in a dream is a clear sign that the dreamer's openness of heart, devotion and trust are great enough to accept and follow the master's instructions, which enable him to fully activateinherent wisdom and realize his true self.
